Role Description: The Senior Kid’s Sleepwear Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in the New York City Metropolitan Area. This role is responsible for leading the design and development of children’s sleepwear collections from concept through production, including trend research, sketching, fabric and trim selection, and color stories. The designer will create technical packages, collaborate closely with merchandising, sourcing, and production teams, and ensure designs meet brand standards, safety regulations, and cost targets. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing the design calendar, presenting concepts and line updates, reviewing samples and fits, and making revisions based on feedback and performance. The role also involves mentoring junior designers, maintaining knowledge of market trends and competitor activity, and contributing to continuous improvement in design processes.
Qualifications: Demonstrated expertise in fashion design for children’s apparel, ideally with a strong focus on sleepwear. Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and other relevant CAD tools. Strong understanding of fabrics, trims, prints, and garment construction specific to children’s products. Experience creating detailed technical packs and working with pattern makers and factories. Knowledge of applicable safety standards and compliance requirements for children’s sleepwear. Ability to interpret trend, market, and consumer insights into commercially viable designs. Comfort managing multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Effective collaboration and communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and presenting design concepts. Experience supervising or mentoring junior design team members is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Prior experience in branded or licensed children’s apparel is required.
