We're a youth empowerment nonprofit serving communities in Chicago and Los Angeles through child human trafficking prevention education, youth leadership development, and economic opportunity programs. As we prepare for our next phase of growth, we're seeking an experienced, self-directed Fractional Development & Grants Manager to help strengthen our funding pipeline, write competitive grant proposals, and cultivate relationships with foundations and institutional funders. Grant Writing & Institutional Fundraising Research and identify high-potential foundation and corporate grant opportunities. Write compelling grant proposals and letters of inquiry. Build and cultivate relationships with prospective funders. Initiate personalized outreach and coordinate funding conversations. Maintain an organized grant calendar and development pipeline. Individual Donor Engagement & Communications Develop and produce a quarterly donor newsletter highlighting our programs, impact, and success stories. Create compelling donor communications that inspire continued engagement and financial support. Help reconnect with existing supporters and cultivate prospective individual donors. Track newsletter engagement and recommend strategies to grow our donor base. Development Strategy Collaborate directly with the CEO to identify funding priorities and opportunities. Help strengthen our overall fundraising strategy and diversify revenue sources. Provide concise monthly updates on grant submissions, funder outreach, and donor engagement. Who We're Looking For: 3+ years of nonprofit grant writing or development experience preferred. Demonstrated success writing foundation or corporate grant proposals. Experience with funder outreach and relationship cultivation. Strong writing, research, and organizational skills. A proactive, independent professional who can turn strategy into action. Passion for youth empowerment, prevention, and community impact.
The Opportunity:
This is a hands-on fractional role, ideal for an experienced grant writer or independent development consultant seeking a meaningful, flexible engagement with a growing nonprofit. We're looking for someone who can both write the grants and help open doors to new funding relationships. You'll work directly with our CEO to strengthen our funding pipeline, connect with institutional funders, and help turn our growing community of supporters into engaged donors.
The Details:
Hybrid Remote w/ some In-Person engagement local in Chicago, IL | Part-Time Contract
Compensation: $50/hour, up to 20 hours per month (maximum $1,000/month).
Schedule:
Flexible, remote contract engagement averaging approximately 5 hours per week. Hours may vary depending on grant deadlines, funder outreach, and quarterly newsletter production. Contract Term: Initial 90-day engagement, with potential for renewal.
