Recycling Specialist IThe Department within Facilities and Business Operations is seeking to hire a Recycling Specialist I. The Recycling Specialist I position is responsible for the refuse management of the University.
Responsibilities: Drive and operate vehicles including recycling truck and hydraulic lifting device, a state truck with power lifting/dumping mechanisms, pick-up trucks and occasional heavy lifting. Pickup refuse materials from campus locations daily; transport and off-load material into various containers and facilities; Transport materials off site when appropriate. General cleaning up of campus; picking up refuse and emptying of refuse receptacles. Perform phases of landscape maintenance and installation, and maintenance of equipment as directed by immediate supervisor. Monitor and wash vehicles and equipment to ensure safe operations and proper usage, and compliance with state and municipal regulations. Perform special collection of refuse, recyclable and items, such as appliances, computers, furniture, equipment, and papers. Coordinate pick-up at customer's convenience, meet with customer to assess disposal needs. Perform minor repair, maintenance and painting of refuse containers and receptacles. Maintain lids and locks on refuse containers. Conduct periodic inspections and inventory of containers. Monitor contaminated quality control of materials collected, and identify hazardous materials that are not disposed of properly. Pick up small supplies needed to perform daily tasks such as gloves, cleaner, and tools.
Minimum Qualifications: Completion of 9th grade or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
Preferred Qualifications: Must be able to communicate in conversational English in order to work effectively with customers and team members, operate electronic equipment (ipod touch for AiM PM checkpoints), comprehend standard safety procedures and utilize telecommunication devices. Able to operate a vehicle as necessary. Must be able to operate essential tools and equipment. Must be adaptable in assignments. Demonstrate capabilities in the following: interpersonal skills, memory, attention to detail, calculation, reading, evaluating, comprehension, and organizing. Ability to utilize standard office software applications for work order systems such as, Integrated Work Management System (IWMS).Must be able to use EH&S approved chemicals to perform essential job functions daily.
Health Assessment Required: UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position. Special Instructions to the Applicants: The anticipated salary for this position is $16.80. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations. Position requires a valid Class E driver's license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business. May be required to participate in respiratory, medical examination and training in use of respirators. All applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.
