Corporate M&A Attorney - Partner

The Opportunity: The incoming partner will advise private equity sponsors, portfolio companies, privately held businesses, founders and management teams on sophisticated middle market transactions. The practice may include:

• Private equity platform and add on acquisitions
• Buyer and seller side mergers and acquisitions
• Strategic investments and minority transactions
• Recapitalizations and management equity arrangements
• Growth equity and venture capital investments
• Corporate governance and shareholder matters
• Ongoing advice to portfolio companies and privately held businesses

Requirements: Candidates should have at least ten years of corporate and transactional experience, ideally including meaningful private equity or strategic M&A work. The successful candidate will possess established client relationships, strong commercial judgement and the ability to lead transactions and develop younger attorneys. Current partners at national, regional and established Chicago firms will be considered. A portable practice of approximately $750,000 or more is preferred. However, the firm will assess the quality of client relationships, profitability, pipeline, sector alignment and future growth potential alongside current collections. A larger team move may also be considered. An Illinois law licence or eligibility for admission in Illinois is required.
