Position Description
Job Summary:
Peckhams paid Internship Program is designed to add practical, relevant experience to your field of study while welcoming you into our family by choice culture. As a Materials Intern, you will: Assist with day-to-day quarry operations, including exposure to drilling, blasting preparation, mobile equipment operations, and plant startup/shutdown procedures under supervision. Support plant operations and maintenance activities by observing and assisting with preventative maintenance, equipment inspections, conveyor and screen operations, and general plant cleanup. Participate in quality control processes, including product sampling, required quarry testing, and documentation of results to support consistent product quality. Assist maintenance teams with basic mechanical tasks, including welding and cutting procedures, equipment repairs, and scheduling maintenance activities to improve plant availability. Gain exposure to sales and customer service functions by learning product applications, supporting the sales process, and interacting with plant customers as appropriate. Support administrative and office functions, including scale system operation, paperwork flow, reporting, purchase orders, work orders, and requisitions. Assist district and divisional office teams with business operations such as capital planning, accounting codes, procurement, environmental compliance, and technical services. Participate in leadership development activities, including project management, team collaboration, meeting participation, and presentations to plant or divisional leadership. Follow all safety, environmental, and company policies while working in quarry, plant, and office environments. Majors applicable to this internship opportunity include Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, and other engineering majors. Position Requirements:
Requirements, Education and Experience: 1. Excellent Attendance and Punctuality. 2. Strict adherence to all safety protocol, OSHA safety rules and regulation required. 3. Current enrollment at an accredited college or university with a 3.0 or higher GPA 4. Proficient written and verbal English communication skills 7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality. 8. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. 9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power Point, Word). 10. Please note:
The program is scheduled to run for approximately ten weeks, Monday, June 7, 2027, through Friday, August 6, 2027, but can be flexible to the students needs.

Travel:
Position may require some travel by personal vehicle to offices throughout the state of New York, and New England based on the needs of the business. Work Environment/Physical Demands: Work environment is dependent upon internship placement and may operate in both a professional office or physical work environment. The professional work environment is mostly sedentary, outside of travel. This internship will also involve heavy work that includes heavy lifting, working near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, pulling, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion.
