Description: American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Stepdown RN for a night shift position requiring an active IL RN license and experience caring for technology-dependent pediatric patients. Details Work in a 39-bed pediatric inpatient unit caring for all specialties, ages 2 weeks to 18 years Approximately 50-60% of patients have some form of technology dependence, including tracheostomies and chronic ventilators Unit is acute care focused on chronic illness management, without drips, surgical, or transitional patients Patient ratios of 1:3-4Night shift schedule, either 3x12 or 4x12 hours (19:00-07:30) Required to work every other weekend Floating required within scope to meet facility needs Open to block scheduling No on-call requirements Uses Meditech charting system
Requirements:
  • Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration (Compact licenses not accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience requiredBLS and PALS certifications requiredExperience with 1:4 patient ratios requiredExperience with ventilators, tracheostomy, and G-tube care required
  • Meditech charting system experience required
  • Flu vaccine required, with medical and religious exemptions accepted
Additional Information:
  • Provide direct care to pediatric patients with chronic illness and technology dependence, including tracheostomy and ventilator management
  • Scrubs may be any color as long as neat and clean; pediatric-themed scrubs encouraged
  • Free parking available in shared public lots
  • Facility does not consider candidates who previously worked as permanent staff at the facility or its affiliated clinicsRTO must be approved and included in the contract prior to start date, with no additions once the contract begins
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
