Position Summary:
We are seeking a Financial Systems & FP&A Sr. Manager to serve as the primary internal owner and subject matter expert for Workday Adaptive Planning (formerly Adaptive Insights).This is a systems-focused FP&A role, with approximately 65–70% of the position focused on Adaptive administration, integrations, data management, system development, and process improvement, and approximately 30–35% focused on FP&A, including budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, reporting, and analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that Adaptive is reliable, scalable, properly integrated with the Company's financial systems, and effectively supports the Company's planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes. The ideal candidate combines strong financial systems expertise with substantial FP&A experience. They should be comfortable managing the technical aspects of Adaptive while understanding the underlying financial data and how Finance uses the system. This position will also be responsible for understanding and improving the Company's existing Adaptive environment. The environment has evolved over time and may contain system nuances, workarounds, dependencies, or processes that can be improved. The successful candidate should have the judgment to understand the existing environment before making changes, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement changes at the appropriate time without unnecessarily disrupting ongoing Finance operations. Key Responsibilities1. Workday Adaptive Planning Administration & Systems — 65–70%Serve as the primary internal administrator and subject matter expert for Workday Adaptive Planning. Manage day-to-day administration, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of the Adaptive environment. Manage users, roles, security, permissions, versions, dimensions, accounts, levels, attributes, sheets, and other system configurations. Maintain and improve Adaptive models, reporting structures, dashboards, and planning applications. Troubleshoot system, model, reporting, and data issues. Establish appropriate controls around system changes and configuration. Maintain documentation of Adaptive architecture, configurations, integrations, and key processes. Coordinate with Workday and external consultants when specialized support is required. Serve as the internal point of contact for Adaptive-related questions and issues.2. Integrations & Data Management Own and monitor integrations between Adaptive and source systems, including NetSuite. Manage financial and non-financial data loads into Adaptive. Maintain data mappings, imports, schedules, configurations, and related processes. Troubleshoot integration failures, mapping issues, missing data, and unexpected results. Investigate and resolve discrepancies between source systems, upload files, and Adaptive. Establish and maintain validation and reconciliation controls following uploads and integrations. Ensure data is accurate and complete (incorporating checks) before it is used for budgeting, forecasting, reporting, or analysis. Identify opportunities to automate manual data processes and reduce reliance on Excel. Manage testing and change controls for integration and system changes. Partner with Accounting and FP&A to understand and document how financial and operational data flows into Adaptive.3. Adaptive Environment Optimization & Continuous Improvement Develop a comprehensive understanding of the existing Adaptive environment, including its structure, models, dimensions, integrations, data flows, business rules, reporting, and planning processes. Evaluate the environment for efficiency, scalability, usability, data integrity, and performance. Identify and document system nuances, workarounds, dependencies, and areas of unnecessary complexity. Distinguish between critical issues requiring immediate attention and longer-term opportunities for improvement. Develop a practical roadmap for incremental system and process improvements. Recommend changes based on business impact, risk, effort, and timing rather than redesigning the environment for the sake of redesign. Properly test and manage significant changes before moving them into production. Simplify models, eliminate unnecessary manual processes, improve integrations, and reduce reliance on Excel where appropriate. Ensure system improvements support the Company's financial and operational processes. Continuously reassess the environment as the Company's business, reporting requirements, and data architecture evolve.4. FP&A, Planning & Analysis — 30–35%Support the Company's annual budgeting and forecasting processes within Adaptive. Develop and maintain financial models for budgets, forecasts, and scenario analysis. Prepare and analyze actual-to-budget and actual-to-forecast reporting. Develop and maintain management reports, dashboards, and other FP&A reporting. Partner with FP&A leadership and business stakeholders to understand planning and reporting requirements. Translate FP&A requirements into effective Adaptive solutions. Migrate appropriate planning and reporting processes from Excel into Adaptive. Support monthly forecasting, variance analysis, management reporting, and financial analysis. Provide financial analysis and decision support as needed.5. Cross-Functional Partnership Partner with FP&A, Accounting, IT, HR, and operational teams on financial systems and planning processes. Help establish appropriate reconciliation between source systems and Adaptive. Understand business requirements and translate them into practical system solutions. Train and support Adaptive users. Promote consistent processes, controls, and data integrity across Finance. Serve as a bridge between Finance's business requirements and the technical capabilities of Adaptive.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business,+ Information Systems, or a related field.
- Significant relevant experience in financial systems, FP&A, or a combination thereof, with 7+ years of experience preferred
- Significant (5+ years experience) hands-on experience with Workday Adaptive Planning / Adaptive Insights.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and FP&A experience.
- Experience with financial-system integrations and financial data flows.
- Strong Excel and financial modeling skills.
- ERP experience; NetSuite strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot system, integration, and data issues.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and finance stakeholders.
- Ability to understand an existing financial systems environment and improve it thoughtfully rather than unnecessarily redesigning it.
- Experience serving as the primary administrator or owner of Workday Adaptive Planning.
- Experience integrating Adaptive with NetSuite or another ERP.Experience with APIs, integration tools, or automated data feeds.
- Experience designing or modifying Adaptive models and planning structures.
- Experience migrating budgeting, forecasting, or reporting processes from Excel into Adaptive.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with financial reporting and management dashboards.
- Experience working in a multi-entity environment.
- Experience with Accounting reconciliations and financial data validation.
- Adaptive certification or formal Workday Adaptive Planning training.
- Experience inheriting and optimizing an existing Adaptive environment rather than building a system entirely from scratch.

- Becomes the Company's primary internal Adaptive expert and owner.
- Develops a deep understanding of the existing Adaptive environment and its architecture.
- Independently manages routine administration, troubleshooting, and system support.
- Documents key data flows, integrations, configurations, and dependencies.
- Establishes reliable validation and reconciliation processes for data loads and integrations.
- Improves the NetSuite-to-Adaptive process and overall data reliability.
- Identifies and prioritizes meaningful system and process improvements.
- Develops a practical roadmap for longer-term Adaptive enhancements.
- Reduces unnecessary reliance on Excel for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Successfully supports FP&A budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes.
- Improves the Company's financial systems and planning architecture over time.
- Reduces dependence on outside consultants for routine Adaptive administration and support.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a systems-oriented finance professional who understands both the technology and the finance behind it.
This is not a traditional IT systems administrator who lacks an understanding of Finance, nor is it a traditional FP&A professional who has only limited exposure to financial systems.
The successful candidate should be able to Own the system, Understand the data, Understand the finance, Improve the environment.
They should be able to determine not only whether a data load technically worked, but also whether the resulting financial information is accurate. The ideal candidate will also recognize that an existing financial system should be understood before it is changed. They should be comfortable inheriting a complex environment, learning its architecture and dependencies, identifying the highest-value opportunities, and making thoughtful improvements at the appropriate time without disrupting ongoing budgeting, forecasting, reporting integration activities.
