Position Summary: We have partnered with a local company and are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer / Planner to join our team in Charlotte, NC.Scroll down for a complete overview of what this job will require Are you the right candidate for this opportunity This full-time onsite role is responsible for managing purchasing activities, inventory planning, supplier relationships, and material availability to support business operations and production requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Plan and purchase materials, supplies, and services to meet operational and production requirements. Monitor inventory levels and maintain appropriate stock levels to support customer and production demands. Create, process, and manage purchase orders while tracking deliveries, shortages, backorders, and order discrepancies. Evaluate suppliers, obtain competitive quotes, and negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and service terms. Build and maintain positive supplier relationships while resolving purchasing, quality, and delivery concerns. Analyze inventory trends, demand forecasts, and purchasing activity to support effective planning decisions. Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative sources of supply to improve efficiency and mitigate risk. Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and supplier records within company systems. Partner with production, operations, quality, warehouse, and receiving teams to support business objectives. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and purchasing standards. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field. Minimum of three (3) years of purchasing, planning, inventory control, or related experience. Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of purchasing, inventory control, planning, and supplier management principles. Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy. Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Primarily office-based work environment. Periodic visits to warehouse, receiving, and production areas may be required. Must comply with all company safety requirements and wear required PPE when applicable. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds. Occasional overtime may be required to meet business needs.
