While Afton operates production facilities worldwide, their primary research and development headquarters is in Richmond, VA, where cutting-edge engine and chemical testing takes place.

Role Overview: Afton Chemical is seeking Maintenance Technicians to support mechanical and engine testing within their R&D labs. This role focuses on running controlled engine tests to validate the performance of petroleum additives.

Responsibilities: Set up and initiate engine and mechanical test cycles Monitor ongoing tests and record performance data Collect samples and document readings Troubleshoot test interruptions and perform basic maintenance Reset and prepare test machinery after each cycle Assist with engine teardown and cleaning using parts washers Participate in daily pre-shift safety and planning meetings Time Breakdown 60% monitoring tests and collecting data 20% starting and configuring tests 20% teardown, cleaning, and prep for next test Training & Schedule First 8–12 weeks: rotate both shifts and both locations (Richmond & Ashland)After training: assigned to a fixed shift Shifts: 11:00am–11:00pm or 11:00pm–11:00am Sun–Wed or Wed–Sat
