We are seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers to support the development and implementation of mechanical design modification packages for commercial nuclear power plant systems. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in nuclear engineering design, engineering change control, applicable nuclear codes and standards, and nuclear quality assurance. The engineer will be responsible for taking design modifications from initial concept through engineering development, documentation, approval, and implementation, while ensuring compliance with applicable nuclear industry requirements and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, manage, and implement mechanical design modification packages for commercial nuclear power plant systems.
Lead engineering changes from concept development through final implementation and closeout.
Perform mechanical engineering evaluations, calculations, design analyses, and technical assessments supporting plant modifications.
Review existing plant systems, drawings, specifications, calculations, and engineering documentation to determine the impact of proposed modifications.
Prepare and revise engineering design documents, including design change packages, calculations, specifications, drawings, technical evaluations, and implementation documents.
Ensure modifications comply with applicable nuclear codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering procedures.
Apply knowledge of ASME, ANSI, NRC, IEEE, and other applicable nuclear industry standards/codes as required.
Support engineering change control, configuration management, and design verification/validation activities.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering, operations, maintenance, project management, and field implementation teams.
Support resolution of technical issues associated with design modifications and plant implementation.
Ensure engineering deliverables meet applicable Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA) requirements and client procedures.
Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and implementation planning.
Maintain accurate engineering documentation and provide technical support throughout the modification lifecycle.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.8–10+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
Required: Direct commercial nuclear power plant experience.
Required:
Proven experience developing and/or managing nuclear design modification packages. Strong understanding of commercial nuclear plant systems, engineering processes, and design change control. Experience with applicable nuclear codes, standards, engineering procedures, and quality requirements. Knowledge of Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA) requirements and engineering documentation practices. Experience with engineering calculations, technical evaluations, drawings, specifications, and design documentation. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with engineering and project teams.
