Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher with specialized training in speech-language pathology or a communication disorders program and successful completion of a minimum of one hundred (100) hours of supervised field work experience or its clinical experience equivalent
- Colorado Department of Education-Special Services License Assistant with a SLPA endorsement
- Must complete an approved course of academic study, field work under the supervision of an ASHA-certified and/or licensed SLP, and on-the-job training specific to SLPA responsibilities and workplace behaviors

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Self-identify as SLPAs to families, students, staff, and others. This may be done verbally, in writing, and/or with titles on name badges
Exhibit compliance with The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations, reimbursement requirements, and SLPAs' responsibilities
Assist the SLP with speech, language, and hearing screenings without providing clinical interpretation
Assist the SLP during assessment of students exclusive of administration and/or interpretation
Follow documented treatment plans or protocols developed by the supervising SLPProvide guidance and treatment via telepractice to students who are selected by the supervising SLP as appropriate for this service delivery model
Document student performance (e.g., tallying data for the SLP to use; preparing charts, records, and graphs) and report this information to the supervising SLPProgram and provide instruction in the use of augmentative and alternative communication devices
With and SLP present, demonstrate or share information with students, families, and staff regarding strategies developed and directed by the SLPAbides by professional code of ethics
Manages time efficiently
Engages in continuing education and professional growth activities related to speech- language and education
Seeks the assistance of providers, teachers, parents, and others to meet the communication needs of students
Consult/communicate with non-school agencies to enhance services
Operate the programs in accordance with Federal and State Department guidelines and SCBOCES Board of Directors regulations and policies
Attends meetings as required
Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively, collaborate with co-workers, and interact with colleagues in a professional manner
Demonstrates a positive attitude towards change
Performs such other tasks as may, from time to time, be assigned
Remote Employee Expectations:
The Employee shall maintain established work hours, ensure reliable internet and communication access, and remain responsive during the entire workday. The Employee is expected to attend all required meetings, fulfill assigned duties, meet deadlines, and demonstrate professional conduct.
In Person Employee Expectations:
The Employee is expected to perform duties on-site as the primary mode of service. The supervisor may grant flexibility for remote work when appropriate. Such arrangements require prior approval and may be revoked at any time. During remote work periods, the Employee shall adhere to contract hours, maintain communication availability, attend all required meetings, and ensure that instructional and professional responsibilities are fully met without disruption.
