Job Description: UToledo Health and the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences has an academic faculty position opening for an Outpatient Geriatrician in the Department of Medicine. The Division of General Internal Medicine is currently providingclinical services to the community of NW Ohio. An important aspectof the mission of the University of Toledo College of Mission and Life Sciences is educating students, residents and fellows as wellas developing research programs related to geriatrics and internalmedicine.
Position Description: As a full time, faculty member, he/she is required to devotehis/her full professional efforts to the programs of the College of Medicine and Life Sciences, fulfilling at the highest level ofprofessional competence. This is an academic position, which requires a combination of teaching, patient care, research/scholarship, as well as administrative activities, that are necessary for the function of the Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. Theinitial assignments and percent of total effort in the areas of teaching, research/scholarship and administration/service will be as follows:1. Teaching: Teaching pre-clerkship medical students in the classroom, smallgroups and in other clinical or non-clinical settings Teaching rounds and ambulatory clinics with medical students during clerkship and during their advanced clinical rotations Didactics for medical students, residents and fellows Mentorship and advising for students, residents andfellows. Departmental conferences such as Morbidity and Mortality Conference, Grand Rounds and Journal Clubs 2. Research/Scholarship: He/she is required to participate in research and other scholarly activities related to the area ofexpertise and interest with expectation of intramural andextramural grant funding.3. Administration/Service: He/she will be expected toparticipate, to the extent that you may be reasonably called upon, in administrative and/or services functions of the Department of General Internal Medicine, the College of Medicine and Life Sciences or teaching hospital committees.
Minimum Qualifications: MD or DO degree required Successful completion of an Internal Medicine and Geriatrics residency required Board Certification required, or eligible to obtain Board Certification within three (3) years of hire Must meet all institutional requirements for appointment at the Assistant Professor level Communication and
Other Skills: Ability to successfully teach and mentor medical students, residents and fellows. Experience collaborating with specialists to explore patienthealth conditions and diagnose health issues. Experience working in a team of healthcare professionals and collaborating with them to ensure positive, effective patientexperiences with our organization. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
