Description: This position requires working 3 shifts of 12 hours each during the night. The schedule will include every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed. Floating between facilities is required. A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is necessary. First-time travelers are accepted. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications are preferred. Experience with MS Tele and Telemetry is essential. Nurses will care for acutely ill medical-surgical patients as well as orthopedic patients. Patient diagnoses may include acute/chronic respiratory illnesses, post-operative general surgery, post-operative gynecological surgery, total knee and hip replacements, orthopedic conditions, acute and chronic pain, active gastrointestinal bleeding, congestive heart failure, pulmonary edema, diabetes, renal failure, drug overdose, suicidal patients, arrhythmias, uncontrolled seizures, and stable COVID patients. Nurses may administer specific IV medication drips. The unit supports interdisciplinary cooperation with various services, including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services. Patient ratios are set at 6 for day and night shifts. The daily census for the unit is approximately 34 patients. Patients served include adults and geriatrics.
