Columbia Sportswear Company is hiring aHybrid Senior Data Engineerbased near Portland, Oregon. This role supports analytics and reporting needs by building dimensional data models, reliable ELT/ETL pipelines, and governed Power BI semantic layers, with a focus on data quality, lineage, and security. Working onsitefour days per week, you will help design and deliver governed data products and ingestion workflows that move data into modern lake and warehouse environments. ResponsibilitiesDesign and implementKimball-style dimensional modelsand analytical datasets Develop data transformations withtests, documentation, anddata contracts Build and maintainELT/ETL workflowsinto data warehouses and lakes, including orchestration, monitoring, andcost and performance tuning Create and maintaingoverned Power BI semantic modelsand datasets Enable self-service analytics while enforcingdata quality, lineage, and security policies Share data and tool practices that increase organizational access to data and support ad hoc analysis to drive data-informed decisions Explore internal and external data sources and collaborate with BSAs and Data Engineering teams to ingest data intodata lake/data bricks/synapsefor analysis and development Elicit and clarifybusiness requirements Document specifications, KPIs, andacceptance tests Deliver demos, office hours, and enablement ImplementCI/CDwith Git-based workflows, unit and integration testing, anddata observabilityusing SLAs/SLOs ProfileSQLand storage strategies, including caching and compute scaling approaches Contribute to catalog and lineage, RBAC/ABACcontrols, PII handling, andretention standards
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree inComputer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field(foreign equivalent accepted) 36 monthsof experience in the job offered or related position Experience withSQL development, including complex queries, stored procedures, views, joins, and performance tuning inSQL Serverenvironments ETL/ELT development usingSSISor equivalent tools, including data mapping, transformations, scheduling, and job automation Power BIdevelopment, including semantic models, dashboards, reports, and publishing toPower BI Service Experience creatingDAX measures Experience withPower Query (M)transformations Dimensional modeling experience, designingstar and snowflake schemasusingKimballor equivalent methodologies Data validation and profiling, including dataset optimization, incremental refresh, and cross-system data reconciliation Experience working with databases and cloud platforms such asAzure SQLorSnowflake Experience usingJIRAfor issue tracking and project management TechnologiesSQL, SQL Server, SSIS Power BI, DAX, Power Query (M), Power BI Service Kimball Azure SQL, Snowflake Git, JIRA
