Rescue Personnel

Scheduled Work Hours: This position is classified as "temporary." Regular scheduled hours are not guaranteed. Available hours are dictated by facility needs and may include a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, occasionally with short notice. Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Perform high angle and confined space rescues. Provide care as first on scene for acutely ill or injured personnel. Perform periodic inspections and inventory of emergency response and safety-related equipment and supplies. Perform other safety related functions as assigned. Chosen candidates will be offered the option to become instructors for CPR/AED/First Aid and Incipient Fire Training.

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Training as a Kansas Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or higher preferred. Emergency Services experience preferred. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required: This individual must be able to function as a cohesive team member, work independently with reliability, and respond accurately and efficiently in stressful situations. Must successfully complete the Evergy Kansas Central – Generation Confined Space and High Angle Rescue Academy following hire. Licenses/Certifications: Valid Kansas Driver's License. Current Kansas EMR certification or higher preferred.

Working Conditions: This position requires you to work inside and outside of the plant in all types of weather conditions. This position requires work at significant heights and in tight, confined spaces. The employee must be medically qualified to wear a supplied-air respirator. Occasional travel is required.
