I’m working with a seed-funded space start-up in Denver looking for a Founding Engineer with a mechanical background to join their early team. They’re developing space drones, taking the technology from concept through design, build, testing and ultimately launch. They’re also building their own flight-testing zone, giving the engineering team the opportunity to build, fly, learn and iterate quickly. This isn’t a role where you’ll be working within one narrow engineering discipline. They’re looking for someone with a varied, hands-on engineering background who is comfortable solving problems across different parts of the vehicle. Your experience could include: Mechanical design and analysis Structural or thermal analysis Electrical and electronics packaging Hardware integration Spacecraft or aerospace systems Prototyping, testing and troubleshooting Taking hardware from early concept through build and test Previous space industry experience is important, but just as important is the mindset. You’ll need to be comfortable wearing multiple hats, taking real ownership and working in an environment where the answer isn’t always obvious. As a member of the founding team, you’ll have significant influence over both the technology and how the engineering function develops. In return, they’re offering a strong base salary and an exceptional founding-stage equity package. If you’re an engineer who would rather build, test and iterate than spend your time sitting in meetings, I’d love to hear from you.
