Our agents live in a consumer app, on any website, inside the tools people use at work, and in person, on hardware we design and ship. That hardware track record is why this role exists. We launched Napster View in 2025, a CES Top Picks Award winner and a Tom's Guide Awards honoree, and followed it this year with Napster Station, an AI concierge that meets customers face to face. The next step is agents that move.
The role:
We are hiring a Director of Robotics to bring Napster's agents into the physical world on mobile robotic platforms. You will lead the robotics program end to end: platform, partners, integration, safety and the first deployments with customers. You will build a small team and work closely with Product and Engineering. This is a builder's seat. You will choose the platform, make the hard tradeoffs, and ship.
What you will do:
- Build the robot: platform, mechanics, electronics, software and the partners who make it, with your own hands on the hardware.
- Select the mobile-robot platform, own that vendor relationship, and choose the robotics software stack you build on.
- Own the safety case and certification for service robots operating in public spaces, including accessibility.
- Work with our hardware production team on manufacturing, tooling and unit cost.
- Run the first customer deployments, instrument them, and turn what we learn into the production spec and the deployment playbook.
- Connect the robots to Napster Fleet for monitoring, remote assistance and updates.
- Hire and lead a small robotics team across mechatronics, embedded and controls, and field engineering.
- You have
- Shipped at least one robot into a public or customer-facing space, from prototype through certification to deployment.
- Hands-on experience building on a production edge-AI compute and robotics software stack, plus simulation-based testing (Gazebo, MuJoCo or similar) and Robot Operating System 2 fluency.
- Deep systems integration across mechanical, electrical, embedded and software, with your own hands on the hardware.
- Direct experience with service-robot safety standards and certification, and with contract manufacturers.
- A record of moving fast: you have taken a concept to a working robot in months, and you know which corners can be cut and which cannot.
- Comfort leading a small team and outside partners at the same time.
Nice to have:
- Fleet operations for a deployed robot fleet.
- Mechanism design.
- Experience with silicon vendors’ partner or reference-design programs
- A product sensibility: you care how it looks, how it sounds and how it makes a customer feel.
- Location and level
- Remote within the US, with travel to partners and customer sites. Director-level, reporting into Product.
