RN Cardiothoracic ICU

UCHealth is seeking an RN for our Cardiothoracic ICU to deliver advanced, patient-centered care to post-surgical and critically ill cardiac/thoracic patients. In this rotating-shift role, you’ll perform complex assessments, manage ventilators and invasive lines, and administer high-risk medications while collaborating with an expert multidisciplinary team. You’ll educate patients and families, support quality and safety initiatives, and grow through academic-affiliated training, mentorship, and exposure to leading-edge cardiothoracic care in a nonprofit, mission-driven system. Provide direct cardiothoracic ICU nursing care to post-operative and critically ill patients using evidence-based protocols Continuously assess, monitor, and interpret hemodynamic, cardiac, and respiratory status; respond rapidly to changes in condition Administer medications, blood products, and advanced therapies, ensuring accurate documentation and safety compliance Operate and troubleshoot ICU equipment including ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and invasive lines Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams on care plans and rounds Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery expectations, and ongoing care needs with empathy and clarity Maintain accurate electronic health records and participate in quality, safety, and infection-prevention initiatives Precept and mentor new nurses; engage in ongoing education and professional development activities Cardiothoracic ICU nursing Hemodynamic monitoring Ventilator management Administration of high-risk IV medications Management of invasive lines and drains ECG interpretation and arrhythmia management Post-operative cardiothoracic care Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation Advanced cardiac life support protocols Infection prevention and ICU safety protocols Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Active RN license in state of practice Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) preferred Cardiac Surgery or cardiothoracic specialty certification preferred
