Operating Room Registered Nurse

Mercy is seeking an Operating Room RN for our Center for Performance Medicine. In this role, you’ll deliver expert perioperative care before, during, and after complex procedures, serving as a key member of the surgical team. Responsibilities include patient assessment, OR preparation, circulating, enforcing strict aseptic technique, medication administration, and accurate documentation. You’ll collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and support staff while mentoring peers, supporting quality initiatives, and contributing to continuous improvement in patient safety and outcomes. Provide pre-, intra-, and postoperative nursing care for surgical patients in the operating room Function as circulating nurse; prepare OR, equipment, and supplies for procedures Maintain strict aseptic technique and enforce infection prevention standards Monitor patient status, administer medications, and respond to intraoperative changes Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical techs to ensure safe, efficient cases Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the EMR Educate and support patients and families regarding procedures and postoperative expectations Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and evidence-based practice projects Precept and mentor new OR nurses and support ongoing team development Adhere to Mercy policies, regulatory standards, and professional nursing practice guidelines Perioperative nursing OR circulating Patient assessment Intraoperative monitoring Aseptic technique Electronic medical records (EMR) Medication administration Surgical instrumentation familiarity Patient and family education Interdisciplinary teamwork Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Active RN license BLS certification ACLS certification PALS preferred CNOR certification preferred Perioperative nursing training Infection control training
