Entry-Level Respiratory Therapist

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks a Respiratory Therapist I to deliver high-quality respiratory care in an academic health center. In this entry-level clinical role, you will perform patient assessments, administer oxygen and aerosol therapies, manage ventilators, and obtain arterial blood gases under the guidance of senior therapists and physicians. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, support clinical education of students, and participate in quality and research initiatives that advance respiratory care and patient outcomes. Perform respiratory assessments and develop care plans under clinical supervision. Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and chest physiotherapy. Set up, monitor, and adjust ventilators and noninvasive ventilation per protocol. Obtain and analyze arterial blood gases and interpret results with the care team. Document care in the EMR and communicate patient status to physicians and nurses. Educate patients, students, and families on respiratory therapies and equipment use. Follow infection prevention, safety, and regulatory standards in all clinical areas. Support teaching, research, and quality improvement initiatives within MUSC.
