The Role: We’re building our go-to-market strategy and looking for a founding Marketing Director to own it. We’re live on iOS, Android, and web, growing organically with no paid acquisition behind us — and the next chapter is turning that into a repeatable engine. You’ll define how Aebly reaches people, tells its story, and grows an audience that sticks. This is a build-it role, not a run-the-playbook one. You’ll set the strategy and execute it — positioning, launch, channels, and growth — working directly with the founders to take Aebly from early traction to scale. Our growth has always been creator-led and owned-channel; you’ll sharpen that into something that compounds.
What you’ll do:
  • Own the go-to-market strategy end to end — positioning, messaging, audience, and channels
  • Build and run the creator-to-user growth funnel that acquisition depends onLead launch campaigns and own-channel growth across social, video, and podcast
  • Define and sharpen how Aebly is positioned in a crowded news and civic landscape
  • Set up measurement — understand what’s working, what isn’t, and where to double down
  • Partner with the content, social, and anchor teams to turn reach into retained users
  • Work directly with the founders on growth strategy and brand direction
What we’re looking for:
  • A track record of building marketing or growth from the ground up, not just running an existing function
  • Strategic range — you can set direction and still execute hands-on at an early stage
  • Real understanding of organic, creator-led, and owned-channel growth
  • Fluency with digital, social, and video-first audience building
  • Data sense — comfortable deciding by what the numbers show
  • A feel for brand and story, and why both matter for a trust-driven product
  • Helpful but not required
  • Experience marketing a consumer app, media product, or platform
  • Background in news, media, civic tech, or mission-driven products
  • Experience with creator partnerships and influencer-led growth
  • Prior early-stage or founding marketing experience
