K–12 Academic Tutor and Mentor

As an Academic Tutor and Mentor with City Year, you will serve full-time in a partner public school, providing small-group and one-on-one academic support, mentoring, and enrichment to help students stay on track to graduate. You’ll collaborate with teachers to reinforce lessons, track student progress, and create a positive, inclusive classroom environment. Provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects during and after school Support classroom instruction in partnership with teachers Mentor students to build social-emotional skills, attendance, and engagement Track and report student progress using established tools and metrics Help plan and lead enrichment, after-school, and service-learning activities Contribute to a positive, inclusive school climate aligned with City Year values Collaborate with a diverse AmeriCorps team and school staff to meet goals Participate in City Year trainings, coaching, and professional development Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding student needs and progress K–12 tutoring Lesson reinforcement Classroom support Youth mentoring Behavior management Data tracking and progress monitoring Basic educational technology (e.g., Google Classroom, MS Office) Communication and presentation Time management and organization Collaboration with teachers and school staff Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k AmeriCorps eligibility (US citizen or legal resident) Background check clearance Experience working with K–12 students (preferred) Training in youth development or education (preferred)
