K–12 School-Based Academic Tutor

City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core academic subjects Support classroom instruction in collaboration with teachers Monitor and track student progress and attendance Mentor students to build positive relationships and encourage engagement Assist with planning and leading enrichment and after-school programs Communicate regularly with school staff about student needs and progress Model positive behavior and support a safe, inclusive classroom environment Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and team meetings Support school-wide events and family engagement activities Maintain accurate records and follow school and City Year policies Tutoring in math Tutoring in reading/writing Classroom support strategies Student progress monitoring and basic data entry Youth mentoring and relationship-building Behavior management and de-escalation basics Communication with teachers and staff Organization and time management Basic educational technology (e.g., learning platforms, spreadsheets) Cultural competence and working with diverse communities Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Previous experience working with K-12 students (paid or volunteer) Background check eligibility AmeriCorps eligibility (if applicable) Basic child safeguarding/mandated reporter training (can be obtained on the job)
